Pre-birthday post... Chameleons

For a different upcoming project I'm working with chameleons and a few other animals, here were the first studies I did.  The image didn't scan very well, I'll post more later.  Tomorrow is my birthday, and the start of a new month, both very exciting, time for some resolutions and some good quality work to be produced.

Blind...

I'm taking a History of American Illustration class and last week we were watching a film about Walt Disney.  The lights were all off in class, so I wanted to see what I would get from drawing in the dark.  All except the eye at the bottom of the page were in the dark.  I cheated a bit for the eye, I used the light bouncing off the screen from the projector to see a bit.  I like the man near the bottom of the page.

Slacking a bit

Sorry, not that I think anyone actually looks at this blog, but I am trying to have a daily post now... So, to make up for missing a couple days, here are a couple unrelated images.
These are my own hands, and yes the bottom right one is a right hand, if you have never tried drawing your hand holding the pencil that is drawing your hand before, than you my friend are missing out.

As for this, well, I don't know how much I should talk about this project yet.  But I am working on my own short, very short, short animated film. this is a quick concept for one of the settings...

Fell asleep last night reading...

So you get a page of doodles used for warming up the hand.  I was trying out some different styles to see what I got.

Forest Scene

Here is a backgound I drew a little bit ago. Obviously of a forest. I have an idea what I could use this for...

Selling of my childhood

Since my mom moved this past Christmas I was given the wonderful opportunity to go through all of my old stuff that was back at her place and bring back a bunch or it and give the rest to my niece and nephews and Goodwill.  Our place is fairly small and everything I brought back I still had to sort through when it got here.  That was a big mess, but I have been able to go through it and narrowed down what I still want and what I am willing to sell or continue to give away.  This sketch shows me amongst my childhood playthings and trying to give decide in the confusion.

New Portfolio Blog

I will be working on updating my portfolio in the next month to get ready for jobs and internships. It will probably be its own blog and I'll keep this one as a fun, playing around, non-serious art blog. I'll make a link in a few weeks once I get it started.
Here is another sartorialist sketch and a few ideas from Halloween that I haven't posted yet. Costume ideas for a few trick-or-treaters.
EDIT... Apparently adding photos with the blogger app isn't the best method... I'll try again....Better quality now

Back from hiatus, Fanart Friday-ish

My wife and I have been watching Taken, the Sci-Fi channel series back when the channel was actually named Sci-Fi, about alein abductions and it had Dakota Fanning in it.  The aliens' eyes would turn black when they used their powers as well as any of the hybrid humans...for the most part, and it reminded me of the older WB animated mini-series Invasion America.  When one would greet another their eyes would do this black hole thing.  I decided to do a quick animation of it

I might color it or make it a bit more fluid and clean, but for a quick test I am happy.  I need to get into animating more and this is the first step.
